Why avoid attachments?
Attachments are limited to about 20 to 25 MB, they can be blocked by company filters, they fill up mailboxes, and they leave a permanent copy of your file in at least two inboxes. Sometimes you also simply do not have the other person's email address.
Option 1: a 3-word password
With Skypost you upload the files and get three words. Send the words by text, WhatsApp, a phone call or on paper. The recipient enters them at skypost.co.uk/receive and downloads. Nobody needs an email address or an account.
Option 2: a messaging app
WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram can send documents directly. They are convenient for small files between people who already chat, but photos and videos are often compressed, and very large files hit app limits.
Option 3: a shared cloud folder
Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox let you share a folder link. This suits ongoing collaboration, but you need to manage sharing permissions carefully and remember to remove access later.
Option 4: AirDrop or Nearby Share
If you are in the same room and on compatible devices, AirDrop (Apple) or Quick Share (Android and Windows) is quickest. It does not help when the other person is far away or uses a different platform.
Which is best?
For sending to someone you do not chat with, or across iPhone and Android, a 3-word password is the least hassle. For ongoing team work, a shared drive. For files in the same room, AirDrop. Read more on sending files without email.
