WeTransfer Free in numbers
At the time of writing (October 2026), WeTransfer's own help pages list the free plan as: up to 3 GB per transfer; a rolling allowance of 10 transfers or 3 GB in total every 30 days, whichever you hit first; and download links that last 3 days. The free plan is for personal use. These limits change from time to time, so check WeTransfer's site before relying on them.
What the 30-day allowance means in practice
The 3 GB is not just per transfer, it is your total for a rolling 30-day window. Send one 3 GB transfer today and you may have to wait before sending another, even a small one. If you send lots of small files, the 10-transfer cap is what you will hit.
Paid WeTransfer plans
WeTransfer's paid plans raise the size limit considerably, remove the monthly caps and let you keep transfers for longer, with extras like password protection. If you send very large files every week, a paid plan from WeTransfer or a similar service is worth considering.
How Skypost compares
Skypost's free limit per file is smaller: 200 MB per file and 500 MB per folder. In return there is no email step, links last 7 days rather than 3, the free plan can be used for work, and recipients can upload files back to the same folder. Pro raises the limit to 5 GB per file with 30-day folders. See the full, honest Skypost vs WeTransfer comparison.
Which to use
One huge file now and then: WeTransfer Free is fine. Lots of everyday files, a need to avoid email addresses, or files going both ways: Skypost is the better fit. Many people use both.
